The College of Educational Science of Shaanxi Normal University , originally founded on the department of education, psychology and educational research institutes in 1997, consists of . Department of Psychology, Department of Education, Department of Pre-School Education, the Educational Research Institute, the Research Institute for Higher Education, the Teacher Education Center and the Counseling Center. Among its 80 staff members, there are 11 professors, 26 associate professors and 20 lecturers etc,. 34 of them have master degree and 30 of them are either doctors or doctoral candidates.

The Dean is Prof. Xuqun You,  associate Deans are Prof. Jianrong Tian, Associate Prof. Yonghui Wang, and Qiangzhang Qu. The Secretary of the Party in the college is Prof. Hongwu Li and the deputy Secretary of the Party is Luzhi Li. The Secretary of the Communist  Youth League is Bin Zhang. 

The college focuses on undergraduate programs and master programs. It offers 6 undergraduate programs, including Pedagogy, Educational Management, General Psychology, Applied Psychology, Pre-school Education and Special Education, and 7 master programs, including Education Principles, History of Education, Basic Psychology, Applied Psychology, Educational Economics and Administration, Curriculum and Teaching Theory, school management and pre-school education.  It also offers doctoral programs, including Education Principles and Basic Psychology. Among them, Pedagogy distinguishes itself in Shaanxi province and the curriculum, Modern Education and History of Education are the classic courses at the province level.

The college has been put a great effort on the educational research and severed elementary and secondary education. It has undertaken 45 state- or provincial-level projects of scientific research, compiled and published 200 academic writings and textbooks and published 800 academic papers. All these remarkable scientific achievements bring the college a very good social effect and economic results. At the same time the college tries her best to offer a complete and flexible continuing teaching training programs for in-service teacher training and profession development in Shaanxi province. More than 20,000 in-service teachers has involved in these programs.

The well-equipped laboratories and some other equipments, such as the model labs for applied psychology, the mini-analysis teaching system, the multi-media lab, piano rooms, dancing hall for teaching are supplied for teaching and research in the college.

Now the college is committed improvement in all parts of education reform in the new era. Her new developmental strategy aims at academic development, teaching reform and fostering young teachers, increasing her level of scientific research and social service and enhancing her teaching quality all over. These reflect the university goal of setting up a comprehensive research-pattern university with a main feature of teacher’s education.
